ZenDog Inn was recommended to me by a friend; I was going on a week long vacation and wanted to pick the right place for my “little girl”, Kiera Oakley. I was a little nervous because this was the first time I was going to leave her for that long. Jenn, the owner, was very caring and took the time to show us around and allowed us as much time needed to get comfortable with the setting.
The kennel was very clean, with large kennels, elevated coolaroo bed in each kennel, warm blankets and zen-inspired music playing in the secured, heated kennel building. There is a large play area for the dogs to run and go to the bathroom; the play area was very clean.
Jenn kept in contact with me during the week with updates and pictures. Being that this was the first time Kiera was boarded for longer than an overnight, Kiera may have been a little confused at first as to her new environment but after the first day or two Kiera became comfortable and enjoyed her experience; I’m sure the nightly treat of a stuffed Kong that Jenn provided helped. I know Kiera enjoyed her time there because when we went back for an overnight for the Thanksgiving holiday, she was very excited to see “Aunt Jenn”.
I would highly recommend ZenDog Inn, the rates are reasonable and Jenn is truly passionate about the care and safety of the dogs staying at her kennel.

I know that Jenn has many years of experience with dogs and has a vast knowledge of dog behavior, so I knew that my 2 dogs would be in good hands at Zen Dog Inn. When I got there, she showed me exactly where they would be staying and allowed me to help them get settled into their kennel. The kennels were very clean, updated and included nice elevated cot-like dog beds with blankets and were situated in a temperature controlled secure building located right behind her home.
The weather was below zero wind chill the weekend I boarded my dogs, and I was worried about them being cold. But once inside the kennel area, I could feel for myself that they would be toasty warm during their stay. I really liked that my dogs would be taken out into a 6ft high stockade fenced in large grass area that is attached directly to the building for potty breaks, as they will not go to the bathroom on any other surface besides the ground outside.
Jenn uses calming aromatherapy techniques to ease the dogs’ stress and she gives them nightly treat stuffed Kong toys to enjoy. She texted me throughout the weekend, letting me know how they were doing. When I picked them up from ZenDog Inn, I was pleased to see that they were in much better mental condition than last time I had boarded them somewhere else.
I highly recommend Zen Dog Inn for boarding your dogs. I drive 45 minutes to get my dogs there, but it’s worth the peace of mind knowing that Jenn will care for them like they are her own. And the rates are extremely reasonable, especially considering the extra attention and care they are getting that you won’t find at other boarding facilities.
